JACK CORN: “AMERICAN COAL MINERS” (1974)

For his DOCUMERICA assignment in 1974, Jack Corn focused his lens on the plight of the American coal miner, capturing images of the many lives touched by unsafe working conditions, low wages and black lung disease.

For the Documerica Project (1971-1977), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) hired freelance photographers to capture images relating to environmental problems, EPA activities, and everyday life in the 1970s.
