Debut Episode of Conversations:
Corin Hewitt in Conversation with Jason Fulford on the occasion of Corin’s project with Molly McFadden at Recess Gallery in NYC.
We are pleased to announce a new series presenting photo-based artists in conversation with one of their contemporaries or collaborators. Comprised of 10 to 15 minute episodes, Blind Spot Conversations delves into the featured artist’s practice and process, and showcases their current or significant work. In addition to conversation and interview, each episode will include a visit to the artist’s studio, an installation, or current project space.
More About Corin Hewitt and Jason Fulford:
Corin Hewitt (b. 1971) is an American sculptor and photographer. Hewitt received a BA from Oberlin College and an MFA from Milton Avery School of Art at Bard College. His work has been shown widely in the U.S. as well as Europe. He has had solo exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of Art and The Seattle Art Museum. He has been included in group exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of Art in New York, the Astrup Fearnley Museum in Norway, the Wanas Foundation in Sweden, and with the Public Art Fund which commissioned a public project with Hewitt in Brooklyn, NY. Hewitt is an assistant professor at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia and is represented by Taxter and Spengemann Gallery, NYC.
Jason Fulford is a photographer and co-founder of the non-profit, J&L Books. He has lectured at the ICP, Cranbrook Academy of Art, LACMA, Mass Art, P.S.1, RIT, SVA, Wesleyan University and Yale University. He is also a contributing editor to Blind Spot magazine, and a visiting critic in the Yale MFA Photo program. Fulford’s photographs have been featured in Harper’s, The New York Times Magazine, Time, and on book jackets for Don Delillo, John Updike, Bertrand Russell, Jorge Luis Borges, Terry Eagleton, Ernest Hemingway and Richard Ford. Monographs include Sunbird (2000), Cru shed (2003), Raising Frogs For $$$ (2006) and The Mushroom Collector (2010). He lives in Scranton, PA.
