ASX.TV: Shan Shan Sheng – “Dawn of the New Millenium” (2009)

Visual artist Shan Shan Sheng presents a cycle of paintings entitled Dawn of the New Millenium, a large scale series installed at the tallest building in China in 1999. Located in Shanghai, the Jin Mao Tower is an iconic symbol for China’s entry into the 21st century. The vivid, massive interior, as featured in the work of Andreas Gursky, is an exceptional marker of cultural memory.
