PAUL SCHIEK: "Good by Angels..."

American photographer Paul Schiek weaves a tale of glass, fabric, suffocation, flash bulbs and fragile human threads. The viewer's head (and heart) are held underwater by force as a feeling of organic claustraphobia and a slight tinge of a smothering madness rush through. His use of a camera becomes unimportant, the aesthetic and the content, the vice grip on your senses are all that matter. If one tries to break down the scenes, analyze the pieces, all that is left is confusion and the realization that the reality is meaningless... all that truely matters is what is contained in Paul's frenzied head...

His project "These Birds Walk" brings together the likes of Paul himself, Jim Goldberg, Todd Hido, Ari Marcopoulos, Mike Brodie and others for a series of self published quarterly books. You pay for the year and get four - one every three months.

Kin Series 2 is featuring Todd Hido, Abner Nolan, and Marianne Mueller and Alec Soth. It is available now and can be purchased...

ANTHONY HERNANDEZ - "Phantoms and Dreams, Ghosts and Grit..."
"The 1970’s photographs of Anthony Hernandez possess something stupendous, something despairing and faint... lusciously strange… something that is fleeting, or maybe some would say… “hard to pin down”. Of course the aesthetic is godsmackingly gorgeous in its bleak ugliness…"
